  • Torrential downpours hit the first day of Primavera festival in Barcelona on Thursday 4 June, leading to disruption.
  • Headline performances by Massive Attack , Doja Cat and Bad Gyal were cancelled, alongside sets from Alex G and Mac DeMarco, due to “adverse weather conditions” and technical conditions that would make the shows unsafe to stage.
  • Festival-goers complained of a “total mess” on-site with “nowhere near enough staff” and “terrible crowd control”.
  • A statement sent to The Independent said that Primavera’s organisers understood and shared “the frustration and disappointment” of fans, adding it was “not what we hoped for” on the festival’s first day.
  • Details regarding refunds for Thursday tickets are expected to be sent to attendees on Monday 8 June, with the festival scheduled to continue today.
