Primark has built its reputation on fast fashion and, often, on designer-style looks. But one of their so-called dupes has fallen well short of shoppers' usual adoration.
The store's own version of popular Crocs is on sale in shops across the UK, but it's fair to say shoppers are divided. Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, Nat Peek wrote: "£4 primark," obviously impressed with the low price point.
But there were others who felt that they were not what one would want on one's feet, reports the MEN. Even if they were cheap as chips.
Shirley Medd defended the purchase, saying: "These are brilliant to slip on when your nipping to hang the washing out." Spamm Ellward added: "I’ve walked miles in these on my holiday what a bargain they was."
Carla Cass said: "Crocs are THE best. ( these are my newest addition) ..I love them .. crocs and socks for the win." Sophie Dooley said: "I got these and I love them."
But the vociferous reaction against the faux-Crocs was quite something. Sharon Brannigan wrote: "Never ever ever will I put these on my feet ,, nooooo way."
Suz Hufton-Milnes blasted: "Ask yourself why they are £4. They are the ugliest shoes ever." Tina Richardson said: "Working in these are one thing .... but to wear for fashion........ ehhh no. However, they are also great to wear when cutting the grass.... just rinse clean."
Wendy Mcgurty said: "Great for gardening.. Nothing else." Sammie Hutchinson criticised: "Wouldn’t take a pair if they were free."
Michelle Collins Williams commented: "Set them on fire." Kate Moscrop said: "They could be free and I’d still leave them in the store."
Primark has been approached for comment by the MEN.
