Primark launches new website with thousands of items listed

Shoppers with Primark are now able to look at thousands of items online as the retailer launched its new website. The high street store has unveiled its new website on Thursday morning (April 7).

Primark shoppers can browse items and check stock levels of thousands of products including clothes, homeware and beauty ranges. Customers will be able to check whether their favourite items are in stock in their size at their nearest store for the first time.

More product information will also be available, including fabrics and materials. The new website is live in the UK now, and new features will be rolled out in the coming months, the Sun reports.

Updates will include creating customer accounts, a newsletter, and the ability to create a wish list. But crucially, shoppers will not be able to make online orders for collection or home delivery through the website.

And so shoppers will still have to head to their nearest store to get their hands on bargains for sale. Primark boss Paul Marchant said: “We know [shoppers] want to browse the latest collections online and be able to check availability, which is what our new website makes possible for the first time.

"This new website and new features mark a significant step forward for our business and represent a shift in the role of digital at Primark." Stock availability is based on a traffic light system with green meaning in stock, orange running low and red sold out. Grey means the item isn't available at the chosen store.

The website has launched in the UK first and will be rolled out to 13 other countries by the end of September. The retailer has 400 stores globally and nearly 200 in the UK.
