Primark at Westfield Stratford is set to double in size to take up four floors

Westfield Stratford’s Primark is set to double in size, with two floors to be added in 2024.

The clothing store currently covers 45,100 square feet over two stories, but this is set to increase to a massive 81,000 sq ft over four floors.

The expansion will result in the creation of 250 jobs at the East London shopping centre.

Speaking of the news, Kari Rodgers, Primark’s retail director UK, said: “After setting out an ambitious investment plan a few months ago, it’s exciting that we can now reveal another one of the stores set to benefit.

“We’re looking forward to extending our offering at Westfield and giving shoppers in Stratford even more of the great style and incredible value they love the most.”

The expansion is part of Primark’s plan to invest £140 million in the high street, adding 160,000 sq ft to its stores and creating at least 850 new jobs.

When the plan was announced in November, Primark chief executive Paul Marchant said: “The UK is our biggest market and, as we continue to grow and expand our business internationally, we remain as committed as ever to investing in our stores to offer more customers our great value clothing, beauty, homewares and much more.

“Busy towns and cities benefit us all – we want to see thriving high streets and shopping centres where people come together and enjoy spending time.

“Through today’s investment, we’re playing a part in ensuring that UK retail continues to grow and thrive and give people another reason to visit their local high street.”

There are 11 Primark stores in London, including two on Oxford Street. As well as Westfield Stratford, there are also stores in Westfield White City, Kilburn, Hackney, Wandsworth, Tooting, Lewisham, Wood Green, Brocklebank Retail Park, and Woolwich.

Primark has also increased its in-store outlets in recent years, including beauty studios and cafés opening inside larger city-centre shops and a partnership with Greggs.
