Primark announces new addition to Manchester city centre store

Vintage fashion lovers in Manchester will soon be able to get their hands on secondhand treasures in none other than their local Primark. The high street chain is teaming up with the Vintage Wholesale Company to allow customers to shop vintage and high street gems all under one roof.

We know that there are plenty of shoppers who love a vintage find and secondhand gem, after dozens of our Steal Their Style participants have admitted to rifling through charity shops and thrift shops. Now, they can add Primark to their must-visit list.

The retailer will be opening two concessions in its flagship Manchester and Birmingham stores, and will be found under the WornWell brand by Vintage Wholesale Company.

The Vintage Wholesale Company supplies quality, used clothing in the UK and Europe and sources the best vintage treasures from around the world.

WornWell will stock 70s, 80s and 90s trends including denim jumpsuits and shirts, spaghetti tops, printed sweaters, puffa jackets and crazy pattern shirts. With brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Converse, Levi, and Dr. Martens, each and every piece is unique and timeless.

For the first time, Primark customers will be able to shop branded and non-branded vintage and one-off items of clothing, giving them access to vintage and new, at affordable prices, making the store a one-stop destination.

This is the latest addition to Primark’s in-store offering that includes 22 beauty, nail and hair studios, and 32 food and drink outlets globally. Primark’s Market Street Manchester store also has a Central Perk Friends Café and Smokey Barbers.

Primark hope the concession will bridge a generational gap between their shoppers, as well as promote longevity in customers’ wardrobes.

Jermaine Lapwood, Head of Innovation and Future Trends at Primark said: “We’re very excited to open our first vintage concessions in Birmingham and Manchester. Vintage clothing has increased in popularity over the last few years, and we know that our customers love creating unique looks by mixing old fashion with new.

“This concession will be the nostalgic bridge between generations, bringing curated retro fashion at great value. We want to see clothes loved for longer and kept in circulation - we’ve got big plans within our own business to give clothes a longer life, and we’re thrilled to be supporting an independent business who is working to do this.”

The WornWell by the Vintage Wholesale Company concession opens in Primark’s Birmingham High Street store today and will open in its Manchester Market Street store in the coming weeks.

Riccardo Seaton, Director of WornWell by the Vintage Wholesale Company added: “We are delighted to be opening WornWell by the Vintage Wholesale Company at Primark. We take great pride in sourcing high quality vintage clothing from around the world, and we’re excited to expand our business and offer once-off pieces of timeless fashion to customers in Birmingham and Manchester.

"Each item is unique. We want to inspire our customers to express their individuality and discover a love of vintage through wearing our clothes.”
