Pride weekend weather forecast for three days of Newcastle Town Moor events

This weekend sees the long-awaited return of Pride celebrations in Newcastle, with in-person festivities returning to the city for the first time since before Covid.

Those heading to the Town Moor this year can expect a huge line-up of events to mark the occasion as Northern Pride pulls out all the stops to celebrate the region’s LGBTQ+ community. But with many of the events taking place in the great outdoors, what’s in store for the weather ?

It’s set to be an overcast but mostly dry affair - with temperatures thankfully a lot cooler than the record-breaking heatwave earlier this week. Here’s the full forecast for Newcastle across Pride weekend.

Friday 22 July

Pride celebrations will kick off on Friday, with Northern Pride’s ticketed launch event taking place on the Town Moor in the evening. The fundraising gig will feature performances from Todrick Hall, Katy B, Jodie Harsh and Bimini.

According to the Met Office Friday is set to be an overcast but dry day, with chances of rain no higher than 20%. Temperatures will hit highs of up to 16°C, although it will feel like a slightly cooler 14°C.

Saturday 23 July

The first day of the weekend will see a whole host of free-to-attend celebrations taking their spot on the Town Moor including fairground rides and a Community Village, alongside performances from Mel C and Choriza May on the main stage. The Pride march will also take place in Newcastle city centre from midday.

Saturday will be the warmest day across Pride weekend, with temperatures reaching a pleasant 22°C, and is forecast to be cloudy but dry. Hay fever sufferers beware - pollen levels are expected to be highest on this day.

Sunday 24 July

Celebrations will continue on Sunday with Town Moor festivities including performances from Joe McElderry and Adele Roberts. Pride 2022 will come to a close with the traditional Candlelit Vigil from 9pm.

Sunday is forecast to see temperatures of around 21°C, although it may feel more like 17°C according to the Met Office. The final day of Pride has the highest chance of rain, rising to 30% from 4pm - so be sure to pack that rainbow-striped umbrella just in case.
