A previously unknown self-portrait of Vincent Van Gogh has extraordinarily been found on the back of another painting.
The remarkable discovery was made whilst waiting outside a fish shop queue when a curator at the National Galleries of Scotland spotted the painting.
Professor Frances Fowle, a senior curator of French art at the museum, said one of her colleagues had sent her a text to share the news of the extraordinary discovery, which is believed to be a first for a UK institution.
