Preston have been told to put their money where their mouth is if they want to sign Ireland striker Callum Robinson.
Robinson has been linked with a return to his old club as Championship rivals West Brom are open to offers for the 27-year-old this summer.
But although Baggies boss Steve Bruce is aware of the speculation, he has told Preston to stump up - or shut up.
Bruce said: "I keep hearing the rumblings but there is nothing to really report on it.
"They can make as much noise as they want but what they have got to do is put their money where their mouth is."
Robinson, who scored five goals in two internationals against Azerbaijan and Qatar last year, joined West Brom on a five-year deal in January 2020.
He has bagged 17 goals for the club in that time, but looks set to leave this summer with Preston keen - if the price is right.
Robinson had two loan spells with Preston earlier in his career, while at Aston Villa, before joining permanently in 2016.
He scored 40 goals in 160 appearances across those three stints and was a Preston player when Martin O’Neill handed him his Ireland debut in 2018.
Preston boss Ryan Lowe said: "I'm not interested in Callum Robinson because of what he's done for the football club.
“I'm interested in Callum Robinson because he's a good footballer, ultimately. What he has done for the football club previously will obviously extend that for them.”
Robinson has missed West Brom’s last two pre-season games but Bruce told the 'Express & Star': “He’s got a dead leg. It’s nothing too sinister.”
Meanwhile, Ireland defender Dara O'Shea has signed a West Brom contract extension until the summer of 2025.
O'Shea said: “Albion has been my home for six years and I’m delighted that will be the case for at least another three.
“The club has supported me throughout my development, and I will do everything I can this season to repay their trust and belief.
"I’m excited about the new season and I cannot wait for us to get started, I know I’m not the only one.”
