Presley Gerber’s former girlfriend Charlotte D’Alessio has stated that she is "very" angry about his death, as she paid a heartfelt tribute to him after he passed away aged 27.
The son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber died at a rehab facility on 20 September, according to medical records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
The official cause of his death was not disclosed.
D’Alessio, 28, is a model and influencer from Canada who previously dated Gerber.
She shared a selection of photographs showing the pair together on Instagram and wrote: "Shared a pure love with you & for that I thank & honor your life.
"You deserved more time. You deserved more life. Very angry ab this.
"Love you Pres. always. Up there, down here. don’t ever doubt that. We all love you so much. I hope you can feel it."
D’Alessio also uploaded a short video of Gerber running along the water with a dog, writing: "I will always remember you this way."
Gerber, who was the eldest child of the celebrity couple, signed to IMG Models at the age of 15 and went on to model for major brands such as Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta.
He spoke frequently throughout his life about his struggles with substance abuse and depression.
In March, he shared a video clip of himself receiving a drug withdrawal therapy known as a "pre Ibogaine Flood Dose" in Cancun, Mexico.
Ibogaine is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound that has drawn interest for its application in treating substance use disorders, particularly alcohol and opioid dependence.
The drug remains unlicensed and experimental in the UK, where it is not provided on the NHS, and is illegal in the US; however, it can be lawfully possessed and administered in Mexico.
Police said on Monday that Gerber’s death is being investigated as an overdose.
Santa Monica police were called to the facility at around 9.35 am on Sunday, investigators told The Independent in a statement. Officers found Gerber dead at the scene.
“SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose,” officials said. “At this time, there is no indication of foul play.”
