Welcome to our Presidents' Day mattress deals live blog!

Who's ready for another day of mattress deals hunting? I'm Ruth Jones — sleep writer, mattress tester, sales hunter — and I'll be going you through the next few hours of Presidents' Day mattress sales!

Ready to start sleeping better? Let's get beneath the covers....

The best mattress for all sleep styles

There's one mattress I recommend above all others in the Presidents' Day sales and that's the Saatva Classic.

Take a look at our Saatva Classic mattress review and you'll quickly work out why. Not only is it luxurious, breathable and approved by chiropractors, it's also a dream for pretty much every sleep style. With three firmness levels to choose from (Plush, Luxury Firm and Firm), it suits side, back and stomach sleepers.

Oh yeah, and there's $400 off the Saatva Classic mattress this Presidents' Day at Saatva, reducing a queen to $1,779 (was $2,179.) It's definitely worth the investment.

For more information, my colleague Frances Daniels is tracking the Saatva Presidents' Day mattress sales live, to keep you up to date on all the deals from our top-rated luxury brand.

I'm going to have a scoot around for more mattress and sleep deals but I'll be back soon with all the best savings. Hold tight!

A quick round-up of today's best mattress and sleep deals

Throughout this live blog I'll be bringing you shopping tips, sleep advice and and in-depth look into some of the biggest mattress deals you can shop today.

But let's start off with an overview of the savings live right now:

Calling side all side sleepers!

There’s currently 27% off the Midnight Luxe mattress at Helix when you use the code TOMS27, bringing a queen down to $1,751 from $2,398.

The Luxe is, hands down, the best mattress for side sleepers my team has ever tested. A plush pillow top cover cushions the touch points of the mattress, providing outstanding pressure relief exactly where it’s needed; along the hips, shoulders and knees.

"As someone with recurrent lower back pain, the zoned lumbar support soothes and supports the ‘S’ shape of my back, helping to keep back pain at bay," says Nicola Appleton, the lead tester in our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review. "If you’re looking to buy the Luxe but wonder if now is the right time, it is — once Presidents’ Day is over the Helix mattress sale will revert back to 20% off."

Sleep position 101

Speaking of side sleepers, maybe it's time to dive quickly into sleep positions.

Side sleeping is the most common sleep position, as well as one of the healthiest sleep positions. It's good for back pain and digestion and can also help reduce snoring. Side sleepers need plenty of support but also lots of cushioning, to prevent shoulder pain.

The best mattress for side sleepers we've tested is the Helix Midnight Luxe, from $1,048 at Helix with code TOMS27.

Back sleeping can help reduce back pain (particularly on the right mattress) and can also be better for your skin, as you aren't pressing your face into a pillow. However, back sleepers are also more likely to snore. A good back sleeping mattress has ample support at the hips, to prevent the lumbar from dipping.

The best mattress for back sleepers we've tested is the Saatva Classic, now $400 off at Saatva.

Stomach sleeping is the rarest sleep position, which is pretty good as it's also the worst for your back and neck. However, you're less likely to snore when you're lying on your front. Stomach sleepers need firm beds to prevent twisting the spine further.

The best mattress for stomach sleepers we've tested is the Helix Dawn, from $729.03 at Helix with code TOMS27.

Pillow perfection

I've been focusing on mattresses so far but you can save on all kinds of sleep essentials in the Presidents' Day deals.

That includes pillows — there's 20% off the best pillow we've tested right now:

It's a quick way to upgrade your sleep comfort without the expense of a new mattress.

I can't believe I haven't mentioned the DreamCloud

It's rare for me to make it this far into a liveblog without posting about the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid. It's everything you expect from the best mattress in a box: convenient, not too tough on the budget, and with a little touch of luxury to take the sleep experience up a level.

I was part of our DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress review team and I was most impressed with its luscious cushioned top. It provides ample padding for back and side sleepers but without sink, so you still feel supported.

It's not cheap but with a queen just $699 at DreamCloud it punches way above its price point.

Avoid buyer’s remorse with my 3 quick mattress shopping tips

It's probably been a while since you last bought a mattress — we recommend replacing your bed every 6 to 10 years — so you might be feeling overwhelmed by the deals. That's why I'm here: to help you shop with confidence.

I've been asking my team for some of their top shopping tips and here's what Nicola Appleton, our Sleep Editor, had to say:

Do think about what you need
"Just because a mattress is on sale doesn’t mean it’s the right bed for you. Think about what position you sleep in, think about your sleep needs — for example, are you a hot sleeper? Do you have back pain? For a steer on finding what you need, check out our guide to choosing a mattress."

Don’t assume that buying direct from the brand gets you the best deal
"While many brands have brought their prices down ahead of Presidents’ Day, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still a better deal out there."

Nicola and I take mattress shopping seriously (Image credit: Future)

"Third party retailers, like Mattress Firm and Amazon, often undercut the prices on some of our favorite beds, like the current deal we’re seeing on the Siena Signature memory foam mattress. You’ll pay $359 for a queen when buying directly from Siena, but you’ll pay $294 at Amazon for the same mattress. So it’s certainly worth shopping around."

Don’t turn your nose up at mattresses in a box
"Let me be clear; the best mattresses in a box are not a compromise on quality or construction. They’re compressed and rolled for easy storage and transportation, which means that the savings those online brands make on bricks and mortar stores trickles down to you, the buyer."

Thanks, Nicola! And she'll be back later with some more tips

My number one sleep hack for when you wake up at 3 a.m.

Let's take a quick break from all this deals chat to talk sleep.

My favorite sleep hack is the 15 minute rule and it's my gold standard sleep method for drifting off on those night's when busy thoughts are keeping you up.

The 15 minute rule is simple. When you've been lying in bed staring at the ceiling and getting increasingly frustrated, simply get out of bed, move to a different room, and take up a relaxing past time until you feel ready to drift back off again.

This helps break negative thought patterns: when you can't sleep you start to see the bed as a place of frustration, rather than relaxation.

When I get up I like to have a gentle stretch just to get the blood flowing and then sit in another room and read a book with the lights dim. Soon I find sleep pressure building and most times when I crawl back into bed, I fall asleep in minutes.

One last thing. While it's called the '15 minute' rule, that's just a guideline — don't watch the clock. Take cues from your body instead; when you've started to count down the minutes to your alarm, that's when to get out of bed,

Get ahead of summer heatwaves with our number one cooling mattress

Right now summer seems like it's never going to come but the warm weather will creep up on you and it won't be long before you're tossing and turning in a stuffy bedroom.

The best cooling mattresses can help. They use breathable materials and high-tech solutions to prevent heat build up, so you don't wake up swamped by night sweats. (And by the way, the optimum temperature for sleep is around 65 to 70 F.)

Our top tested cooling mattress is the Bear Elite Hybrid and now's the time to shop, as our code TOMS40 will save you 40% at Bear.

More shopping advice from a Sleep Editor

Nicola Appleton is back with some more mattress shopping tips! (If you missed her earlier advice, simply scroll down this live blog.)

Here's what she has to say if it's your first time (or first in a long time) buying a mattress:

Do ensure your purchase comes with a sleep trial
You might have chosen a mattress that you think is what you need, but until you get it home and try it out you can never really be sure. That’s why I always advise ensuring your purchase is protected with a sleep trial.

Brands will usually ask that you sleep on the mattress for a minimum of 30 nights before deciding that it isn’t for you, then (depending on the brand and their terms) you can either return or replace it.

Don’t feel under pressure to buy
Yes, the mattress sales are particularly strong right now. However, Presidents’ Day is one of five major sale events of the year, so now isn’t your last opportunity to make a saving. Make sure you're confident the mattress is right for you (and there's a sleep trial in place in case of problems) before you buy.

If you're buying a mattress, don't forget this essential purchase

Mattress protectors are a layer of bedding that wrap around a mattress to protect it from sweat, allergens, and general muck. It's a must if you don't want to void your sleep trial (and warranty) or risk ruining your brand new bed with an errant coffee spill.

And good news, the best mattress protector we've tested is the Coop Ultra Tech Waterproof mattress protector, now 20% off at Coop Sleep Goods.

I'm having a scout around for more deals, and I just spotted that the cheap but dependable 10" Allswell hybrid is on sale at Walmart for a lower price than Black Friday. Don't miss out on this if you're looking for a budget bed!

Finally, I can recommend a deal on the mattress I use

I’ve been watching the Amazon sales like a hawk in the lead up to Presidents’ Day (or would a bald eagle be more apt?), waiting for the price to drop on the Siena Mattress. And, at last, the day has arrived.

Okay, I’m exaggerating, as the Siena is exceptional value at full price (that’s $359 for a queen at Siena) but now that it’s dropped to $294 at Amazon this is a deal you don’t want to miss.

We put the Siena through the wringer in our Sleep Lab and it blew us away. It goes above and beyond what we expect from a cheap mattress, delivering full-body support, top-rated motion isolation, and even good temperature control (a rarity in a budget all-foam bed.)

Still not convinced? Learn all about it in my Siena Mattress review.

A perfect pick-me-up for dreary February nights

Our guide to the best luxury mattresses can help you take your sleep to the next level but if you want to treat your sleep on a smaller budget, try these affordable indulgences instead...

There’s a lot that stands out about the Saatva Classic mattress — it looks luxurious, you feel weightless sleeping on it, it comes in an option for almost every sleep style…

But there’s one feature that caught my eye above all else, and it’s something that tends to be overlooked: edge support.

Edge support refers to how strong the mattress is at the sides. I value it in a mattress because it means I can lean over the edge without sliding off (... I knock my phone on the floor a lot.)

However, the main reason I look for edge support is my mom. She has tricky knees and she likes to rest her weight on the mattress for a boost getting out of bed in the morning. On a mattress with bad edge support, that’s impossible.

But on the Saatva Classic she could rest her whole body, plus a few kettlebells, on the side and still feel supported.

It’s the best edge support I’ve tested and our Sleep Lab results back that up. With $400 off the Classic in the Saatva sale reducing a queen to just $1,779 (was $2,179) I’ve already sent the link to my mom.

Puffy's giving away free mattress upgrades again...

If you enjoy a plush mattress the Puffy Lux hybrid could be a strong choice for you, and if you buy now you can instead upgrade it to the even more luxurious Puffy Royal for free.

Right now Puffy's running its free upgrade program that we last noticed over Black Friday. What this means is that if you add the Lux to your cart, you can upgrade it to the Royal. Or if you want maximum plushness, you could instead add the Royal to your cart and upgrade it to the 12-layered luxury-plush Puffy Monarch.

Last time we spotted this deal it didn't stick around for long, so we'd suggest moving fast on this one.

Short on space? There's a Saatva deal for you...

If you're an apartment-dweller without room for a full-sized bed, or if you simply prefer to keep things minimal, a Murphy bed can be the ideal space-saving solution. But if the idea of a Murphy bed conjures up a mental image of uncomfortable, second-rate mattresses, the good news is that Saatva produces its own Murphy bed mattress.

That means you can enjoy Saatva luxury every night, then fold your bed away during the day. We looked into Saatva's Murphy bed mattress last year and concluded that it would be a luxurious and durable mattress for anyone without the space for a permanent bed frame.

And right now with our Saatva Presidents' Day deal, you can get $400 off the Saatva Murphy bed mattress in a full or queen size (at $899 the twin size doesn't qualify for our deal).

That's it from us for today. Join us tomorrow for more hot picks and shopping tips for the Presidents' Day mattress sales!

Happy Presidents' Day Eve!

Meet Eight Sleep's newest (and more affordable) rival — it's on sale right now

Eight Sleep needs no introduction. This AI-powered smart mattress cover is favored by world-class athletes and high-profile individuals who want to harness the power of technology to optimize their rest.

It also costs over $3,000 — even when it's on sale. (The Eight Sleep Presidents' Day sale cuts up to $350 off retail prices.)

So what can you do if an Eight Sleep is out of your financial reach, regardless of discounts? Enter Orion Sleep.

Like Eight Sleep, the Orion Sleep System is a smart mattress cover that uses hydro-powered technology to regulate the temperature of your bed. It also has built-in sensors to track your sleep metrics.

But Orion Sleep offers all of that functionality for much less than Eight Sleep, and after a 20% discount for Presidents' Day, prices start at $2,036 for the Orion Sleep System in a queen-size.

Aside from cost, Orion Sleep also offers an optional Sleep Test to personalize your unit so you don't have to fuss with the setup too much. This adds $49.99 (reg. $99.99).

Is a subscription required to use the Orion Sleep System? Yes, and it costs $17 per month ($200 for the first year, then $250 every year after that). However, you'll still have access to core functionality (including sleep scores, temperature scheduling, and guest mode) without it.

This is the mattress I would buy in the Casper Presidents' Day sale

Casper knocks 20% to 30% off its entire mattress lineup for Presidents' Day. That's the best sale we've seen from the brand since Black Friday 2025.

Here's what I would pick up in this sale...

All Casper mattresses come with a 100-night trial and a 10-year warranty.

Why missing out on Presidents' Day mattress sales may cost you

If you need a new bed ASAP, now is a great time to buy. Presidents' Day is known for offering some of the year's best deals on mattresses.

But what if you want to sit this one out and wait for another sale event to buy? Per Tom's Guide Senior Sleep Writer Ruth Jones, that may not be the wisest decision if you want to score the absolute lowest price for your next mattress.

One of the biggest reasons you'll want to buy sooner rather than later is price hikes due to tariffs and the overall increase in the cost of goods. We've already seen price increases from Saatva, WinkBed, and Avocado. More brands will likely follow suit.

Also, there's a wide gap between Presidents' Day and Memorial Day at the end of May. Major sales events are a trove for deep discounts on mattresses, so if you want to save big, you'll need to wait a bit. (However, you might get lucky and find some great deals when National Sleep Awareness Week arrives in early March.)

Brooklyn Bedding's newest luxury cooling mattresses are 30% off

Two weeks ago, Brooklyn Bedding released its new ThermoBalance luxury cooling mattress line — and it's already received a nice discount for Presidents' Day.

Comprising the ThermoBalance and ThermoBalance Elite models, Brooklyn Bedding COO Tim Dilworth told Tom's Guide this new product line "[Targets] sleepers who want advanced cooling performance paired with a more luxurious feel and finish."

Every ThermoBalance model comes in your choice of firmness and features a ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase foam in the quilted layer, and a breathable gusset with 360-degree airflow. The ThermoBalance Elite adds dedicated lumbar support and extra cooling materials.

The Brooklyn Bedding Presidents' Day sale cuts 30% off sitewide. After discount, you can bring home a queen-size ThermoLuxe Mattress for $1,772 (reg. $2,532) or a queen-size ThermoLuxe Elite Mattress for $2,239 (reg. $3,199).

All Brooklyn Bedding mattresses come with free delivery, a 120-night trial, and a lifetime warranty.

A rare deal from Pluto Pillow for Presidents' Day!

I reviewed the Pluto Pillow in 2024 and liked it so much that I ordered a second one when it went on sale during Black Friday last year.

Now, Pluto doesn't usually run any other promotions throughout the year, which makes this deal all the more surprising:

For Presidents' Day, Pluto cuts $20 off its customizable Pluto Pillow when you either reorder or send one as a gift. Add a pillowcase to save an additional $20.

This is the best offer we've seen from Pluto since November, when a $25 discount applied to all orders. Outside of a possible promotion for National Sleep Awareness Week in March, I doubt we'll see anything else like this from Pluto until Black Friday.

A reliable sunrise alarm clock for under $50? It exists!

We still have to endure several more weeks of winter, so if cold, dreary mornings are making it difficult for you to wake up, consider a sunrise alarm clock.

If you're on a budget, we recommend the Dreamegg Sunrise 2, which is on sale for $45.99 at Amazon. Regularly around $70, this is the lowest price we've tracked for it.

While it may not have the bells and whistles of the Hatch Restore or Phillips Smart Sleep Clock, the Dreamegg still packs a lot in a more wallet-friendly package. We were fans of the previous Dreamegg Sunrise Alarm Clock; the Sunrise 2 has been redesigned to more closely resemble the Hatch.

Tom's Guide Sleep Deals Writer Alexis De Leaver recently purchased a Dreamegg and likes the easy setup, the simulated sunset to help wind down, and the "vast library of sleep sounds."

Is it time to buy a new mattress?

Sure, Presidents' Day is flush with mattress deals, but that doesn't mean you have to buy a mattress if it's in good shape and you're sleeping well.

However, if you've noticed any of the following with your mattress, you'll want to pay special attention to this weekend's sales...

  • Saggy edges: This usually indicates that the overall support of the mattress is close to failing.
  • Stains and smells: Unhygienic and generally unpleasant; a result of body oils, sweat, and light (and if you like to eat or drink in bed).
  • New sleep problems: For instance, you're now waking up warm, in pain, or with a sneezing fit.
  • Any other bed is more comfortable: If you can sleep anywhere but in your bed, it's time to replace your mattress.

Turn your bedroom into a suite at The Ritz-Carlton with this mattress deal

The Marriott Bonvoy Store is cutting 20% off all mattresses for Presidents' Day. That includes The Ritz-Carlton Mattress, a 14" luxury innerspring mattress produced by Simmons Bedding that features dual comfort layers and 900+ wrapped coils.

Regularly retailing for $3,440, a queen-size Ritz-Carlton Mattress is now $2,752 after 20% off. This is the best deal we've seen for it since Black Friday, when it was 35% off during Marriott Bonvoy's largest-ever sale. This offer ends February 17.

Unfortunately, bedding isn't included in Marriott's Presidents' Day sale, but you can recreate The Ritz-Carlton experience by finding suitable dupes that cost a lot less. Learn how to do that in our feature about why hotel mattresses are so comfortable.

That's all for me...

...but keep it locked to this live blog throughout the long weekend for more deals and buying advice from Tom's Guide's expert sleep team. See ya later!

Presidents' Day is here!

Hello and good morning! The Presidents' Day mattress sales are live and I'm going to be your guide to the deals.

My credentials: I'm Ruth Jones, sleep writer, mattress tester and deals hunter. This is my third Presidents' Day covering the mattress sales and I've personally tested many of the beds I'll be recommending today!

But first, I'm going to have a look around to see what's changed over the weekend.

You can still save on our number one mattress for all sleep styles

My first port of call in a sale is always Saatva, to check if you can save on the bed that tops our guide to the best hybrid mattresses, best luxury mattresses, best mattress for back pain and, of course, our overall best mattress guide.

Saatva earned those rankings after acing pretty much all our tests: you can find a full low-down in our Saatva Classic mattress review.

The Saatva Presidents' day sale brings you $400 off all mattresses at Saatva over $1,000, reducing a queen Saatva Classic from $2,179 to $1,779.

It's a splurge but so, so, so worth it. I've been hands-on with the Saatva Classic and nothing beats a case of the Sunday Scaries like knowing you get to spend your morning testing this luxury bed.

I've been having a good look around and as expected, most of the Presidents' Day mattress sales are the same savings we spotted this weekend. Apart from one unexpected shake-up... I'll be taking you under the covers of that one in a minute.

But first, I'll be bringing you a quick guide to the best of the Presidents' Day sleep deals:

Today's best Presidents' Day mattress, bedding and sleep deals

There are a lot of Presidents' Day mattress sales happening right now. These are the ones to know about:

This is the best place to buy a cheap mattress

Here's a Presidents' Day mattress deal I didn't see coming! In recent months Amazon has been the place to go to save on a Siena mattress, beating the brand's own prices while still providing a 180-night trial and 10-year guarantee.

But that's just changed. The Siena Signature mattress is no longer available on Amazon... and the price has dropped at Siena.

The Siena Signature is hands-down the best cheap mattress we've tested. I'm currently sleeping on it (well, it's in my bedroom. Right now I'm at my desk) and after several months the support is still exceptional. It's a dream for back and stomach sleepers, or for anyone looking to save on a mattress....

The sleep tech to invest in today...

Today I saw the glimmer of a sunrise when I left the house at 7 a.m. and I could have cheered — the dark winter mornings have been killing my sleep.

If you're like me, a sunrise alarm clock might be the answer. I asked Frances Daniels, sleep writer and sunrise alarm clock aficionado, why:

"I got my first ever sunrise alarm clock last September, I was really starting from the top with the Lumie Bodyclock Luxe 700FM.

The best sunrise alarm clocks on the market cater to a variety of budgets and have the same fundamental function: to wake you up with a faux sunrise.

With this sunrise simulation comes a heap of sleep benefits, so let’s take a look at the top three:

It gives you a cortisol boost when it’s still dark: Throughout the wintertime, my sunrise alarm has helped me rise on the darker-for-longer mornings thanks to its cortisol-boosting light. I recommend it to anyone whose schedule necessitates waking up before dawn.

It leaves you feeling refreshed: I love how my sunrise alarm gently wake me up with its gradual sunrise and its non-jarring alarm sounds.

It regulates your sleep schedule: I can set my wake-up times for each day in advance, keeping my sleep schedule on track without having to worry if I’d forgotten to set my alarm the night before."

I'm feeling very tempted to add a sunrise alarm clock to my morning routine and if you're on my wavelength, I've sourced three of the best to buy in today's Presidents' Day sleep deals...

Save

Spend

Indulge

An extra treat from Purple mattresses

Purple mattress sales have dabbled with free gifts before and so I'm excited to see the return of $300 instant credit.

Instant credit is essentially a free gift you choose yourself. Purple gives you up to $300 and you can use that on select accessories. So instead of being lumbered with an unwanted pillow or an unnecessary sheet set, you can pick the sleep accessories you actually need.

And with my instant credit, this is the Purple pillow I have my eye on...

What is a sleep trial?

The Presidents' Day mattress deals are coming thick and fast but let's take a step back to talk about a term you're going to see a lot when buying a new bed: sleep trial.

A sleep or mattress trial is an at-home testing period lasting 100 nights on average (although some brands such as Saatva and DreamCloud offer trials up to 365 nights.) During this time you can sleep on and use the mattress in your own bedroom.

If, within the trial period, you decide the mattress isn't right for you, you can return it for a full or partial refund (some brands require you to spend a set amount of time using the mattress before you initiate a return, to ensure you've broken it in.)

Not all brands offer a trial and they're less common with cheap beds and from third-party retailers. But they're fairly standard when shopping online.

And you must, must, must use a mattress protector during this testing period, to avoid damaging the mattress and voiding the trial. Speaking of which...

The heat-dissipating mattress protector we swear by is 30% off — and it saves you from buying a cooling bed

I'd love to recommend a mattress protector but while the one I'm testing does a decent job, it has a habit of shifting about in the night that's causing no end of frustration.

So I asked Frances Daniels for some help instead. Here's what she suggests...

"I recommend the Luxury Cooling Mattress Protector, now down to $90.30 (was $129) for a queen at Brooklyn Bedding."

"I tested this heat-dissipating mattress protector for my Brooklyn Bedding Luxury Cooling Mattress Protector review and I think it’s best mattress protector you can buy (especially for hot sleepers) thanks to its strong water resistance and its ultra-cooling Glaciotex fabric.

The warmer months are coming, and you may be looking to buy one of the best cooling mattresses on the market. While these can be worthwhile investments, if your mattress is less than 10 years old and supportive, I recommend a new cooling mattress protector instead."

I'm going to take a quick break to eat an orange and pick up some energy (fun fact, many NFLers have ditched half-time orange slices for the restorative comfort of a Sleep Number mattress — how's that for a tenuous link to mattress sales!)

I'll be back in a minute with more exciting savings but in the meantime, make sure to check out our Saatva Presidents' Day sales live hub.

3 fiberglass-free favorites

Fiberglass is a low-cost and effective flame retardant that has traditionally been used in mattresses to meet fire safety regulations. However, when fiberglass gets out of a mattress it can irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory system.

For that reasons, many consumers are choosing to avoid fiberglass — and many brands have stopped using it. Here's 3 of our fiberglass-free mattress favorites (all on sale this Presidents' Day.)

Can a Lunar New Year refresh help you sleep better?

It's Lunar New Year tomorrow — the year of the Fire Horse — so if your 2026 has been rocky so far, maybe it's time for a refresh. Why not try a little Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice that, to put it simply, uses thoughtful placement of objects to create harmony. Rearranging your bedroom can help you access this harmony so you can enjoy better sleep during the day.

We've previously spoke to Feng Shui experts about how to achieve the right bedroom balance. Here are there top tips:

Put your bed in a power position: "You want the bed to be diagonally opposite the door, but centered against the wall. This places the bed in what is called the ‘power position’ of the room with a good view of the door," said Sarah McAllister of The Feng Shui Agency when we asked for tips on where to place your bed.

Avoid windows: “Try not to place a bed beneath a window, especially if the window is right behind your head,” added McAllister. “You can get away with it if there is a long horizontal window further up and there is a solid wall behind you.”

Steer clear of clutter and 'aggressive' decor: While McAllister advised some decoration to avoid a "show home" look, she recommends avoiding spiky or aggressive looking decorations as the brain "subconsciously picks up on these items."

Decorate with light colors: “You don’t want bright reds, lurid pinks or strong purples, for instance, as it’s too overpowering," she said "Although these shades are fine in the living room.”

One more deal from me...

Before I leave you in the capable hands of our Tom's Guide Sleep Editor Nicola Appleton, I want to squeeze in one last saving on a mattress I tested and loved.

I was lucky enough to visit the 3Z mattress factory in 2024 and watch the beds getting made (I even had a go at stitching a cover — don't worry, mine didn't make it to a final product.)

While I was visiting, I slept on the impressive Helix Dusk Luxe mattress, a super supportive yet luxurious hybrid mattress that wouldn't seem out of place in a 5-star hotel. And with code TOMS27, you can save 27% on the Dusk Luxe today...

The Dreamegg sunrise alarm clock just dropped to its lowest price

Good morning all, I'm Nicola and I'm the Sleep Editor here at Tom's Guide. I'll be heading up our live Presidents' Day deals coverage for the next few hours. As well as the latest deals and shopping advice, I'll also be dropping some of my tried and tested sleep tips.

So what's new this morning? While the majority of the sales were already live in the run-up to Presidents' Day, we have seen some surprise price drops this morning. Case in point; the Dreamegg Sunrise 2 alarm clock just dropped back down to its lowest ever price at Amazon.

The Dreamegg is one of the best sunrise alarm clocks our team has tested, helping brighten up dark winter mornings without breaking the bank. After our lead tester Eve tested and recommended it, I bought the Dreamegg as a Christmas gift for my husband. Honestly, it's been a game-changer for helping us both wake up feeling refreshed and sticking to the 7:1 sleep rule.

If you'd bought it on the weekend, you would have paid $49.99. However, I've spotted that it's back down to $45.99 for Presidents' Day today, which is the lowest we've seen it sell for. If you've been waiting for the right time to buy, this is it!

What is the 7:1 sleep rule? I thought you'd never ask

The 7:1 sleep rule is essentially the practice of clocking up at least seven hours of sleep a night and falling asleep within the same one-hour window (half an hour on each side).

It's a term that coined by researchers at Vitality and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Their groundbreaking study indicates that sticking to a regular sleep schedule could add up to four years to your life.

If your sleep schedule is a bit all over the shop and you're panicking about how to get it back on track, don't fret. We've come up with a shortlist of the products we swear by for sticking to (semi-regular) sleep schedule.

This is the mattress I'd buy in today's Presidents' Day mattress sales

I've written extensively about how highly I rate the Helix Midnight Luxe, AKA the best mattress for side sleepers we've ever tested (that's me above, diving onto the bed of my dreams).

The Luxe is a luxury hybrid mattress that's been crafted specifically for people who sleep on their sides, but I've found it to be hugely comfortable for back sleeping too.

In between sale events and holidays, there's usually 20% off in the Helix mattress sales. However, using the code TOMS27 at checkout unlocks 27% off sitewide today at Helix, which beats the 25% general access sale.

That matches the deal we saw for Black Friday 2025, bringing a queen Luxe down to $1,751 at Helix (was $2,398). That makes right now an excellent time to buy. Granted, there have been sale events where we've seen free bedding bundles thrown with every purchase of the Luxe.

But if you're driven by dollar-off discounts only, today's deal doesn't get any better.

I love the Luxe, but this is what I'd buy instead for under $1,000 for a queen

TL:DR: The Brooklyn Bedding Copperlfex Pro is the mattress I'd buy instead of the Helix Midnight Luxe if I had a budget of under $1,000 for a queen.

OK, so I've told you how much I love the Helix Midnight Luxe. However, I also know that, at $1,751 for a queen after discounts, it's still a premium purchase.

If you're looking for a mattress that shares similarities to the Luxe but costs less than $1,000 for a queen (which, let's be honest, is still a sizeable chunk of cash), I'd go for the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro.

With it's hybrid construction (which means it's made of a combination of coils and foams) plush pillow top, zoned lumbar support, the Copperflex Pro offers the same flavor of premium features you'll find in the Luxe.

Plus, it also boasts specialist cooling technology (a GlacioTex cooling cover and copper-infused foams), which means its a great fit for hot sleepers too. Right now, there's 30% off, which brings a queen size Copperflex Pro down to $932.40 from $1,332 at Brooklyn Bedding.

Our lead tester Eve credits it with keeping her spine in healthy alignment (important for back pain relief), helping her sleep cool in an attic bedroom during a heatwave, and providing plenty of pressure relief for side sleeping. If you want the Luxe and have a budget of under $1,000 for a queen, this is what I'd go for.

What I'd buy instead of the Helix Midnight Luxe for under $700 for a queen

TL:DR: If I wanted the Helix Midnight Luxe but had a budget of $700 or under for a queen, I'd buy the DreamCloud Classic ($699, plus free bedding bundle) in today's Presidents' Day sales.

The DreamCloud offers unbeatable value for money, sharing similarities to mattresses more than twice its price — including the Helix Midnight Luxe. At $699 for a queen in a regular DreamCloud mattress sale (you don't have to rush to buy, it's nearly always that price), the Classic also comes with $599 worth of free bedding, which includes sheets, pillows and a mattress protector.

The DreamCloud Classic performed well across all key areas of testing, including temperature regulation and pressure relief. Our lead tester Lauren, a dedicated side sleeper, rated it highly for its cradling support (read her DreamCloud Classic mattress review here).

Be right back, I'm scouting for Presidents' Day pillow deals...

I loved my pillow when I first got it, but now that it's over two years old I've started waking up with neck and shoulder pain (that's a sure fire sign your pillow needs replacing, FYI). I'm going to have a scout around for some Presidents' Day pillow deals, back shortly!

The pillow I recommend to nearly all people is on sale

Okay, I didn't get far into my scout around because as soon as I spotted this Coop Sleep Goods deal I had to rush back and tell you about it.

Topping our guide to the best pillows, this adjustable design is packed with a shredded memory foam fill that can be added or removed to suit your needs. For side sleepers, we recommend upping the fill to create a high loft pillow. Back and stomach sleepers, take some out and enjoy the support of a lower loft.

You can save 20% in the Coop Sleep Goods Presidents' Day sale, reducing a queen to $71.20. Learn why it's our favorite with our Coop Original Adjustable Pillow review.

It's a pillow party at Tempur-Pedic

Before I head off and hand over to Alison Barretta, seasoned mattress tester and writer, I wanted to flag a bedding deal I wasn't expecting: buy one get one free on pillows at Tempur-Pedic.

I'm used to seeing Tempur-Pedic offer bundle savings on pillows but this takes that standard deal up a notch. You basically get each pillow for half price! Here's my pick of the deals (and by the way, it's mix and match):

Good afternoon!

Alison Barretta, mattress tester and deal hunter, at your service for the next while on this Presidents' Day live blog. If you're wondering what sleep products to buy (and where to buy them), I've got you! Stay tuned...

How to sleep like a Formula 1 driver

(Image credit: Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team )

Eight Sleep is partnering with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team this upcoming season to optimize recovery for its drivers and crew members.

(Given Aston Martin's results during pre-season testing, I at least hope they're not losing too much sleep over it.)

That's not the only link Eight Sleep has to Formula 1. Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc is an Eight Sleep Athlete Ambassador and an investor. McLaren F1 CEO Zac Brown is also an investor.

What makes the Eight Sleep Pod 5 so appealing to racing drivers — and other high-performance athletes, for that matter?

This AI-powered sleep system features dual-sided temperature controls that automatically adjust throughout the night so you can sleep uninterrupted. (Just imagine the times you've had to wake up to open a window or turn up the thermostat.)

Other features include built-in sleep tracking with daily insights and a silent thermal alarm. Upgrade to the Pod 5 Ultra for snoring mitigation and surround sound to help you drift off or wake up.

You can read about our experience with the previous Eight Sleep Pod 4 for an idea of how this smart sleep system works.

Is the Eight Sleep Pod on sale for Presidents' Day? Yes, but...

Eight Sleep is cutting up to $350 off its Pod 5 and Pod 5 Ultra during its Presidents' Day sale. That's actually one of the better offers we've seen from this sleep tech company, but during Black Friday last year, we saw a whopping $700 discount.

We doubt Eight Sleep will roll out such a monumental deal again anytime soon, so if you're keen to sleep like an F1 driver, take advantage of this sale before it's over.

Save on Travis Kelce's favorite Sleep Number bed

Keeping on the theme of smart sleep tech and athletes...

Kansas City Chiefs tight end and three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce is now a Sleep Number investor and strategic partner.

This didn't come out of nowhere. Kelce has been endorsing the brand for years. His Sleep Number bed of choice is the Climate 360 Smart Bed, which features dual climate controls for active warming and cooling, as well as customizable firmness and integrated sleep tracking.

By the way, the Sleep Number Climate 360 Smart Bed is 20% off for Presidents' Day. That drops the price of a queen-size to $7,999 (was $9,999). Premium delivery and setup are also included for a limited time, for a $250 savings.

If you can't fathom spending that much for a smart bed, consider this affordable alternative:

To buy or not to buy a mattress online

Did you know: In 2025, 35% of all mattresses sold last year were purchased online — a 12% increase from 2024.

Buying in-store is still the majority, but that's shrinking as more online mattress brands are offering attractive perks such as long trial periods, free returns, and lifetime warranties.

Then you have online-first labels like Saatva, Casper, Nectar, and Helix that either have their own showrooms or established partnerships with existing brick-and-mortar stores in order to put their products in front of more people.

If you're wary of buying a mattress online, Tom's Guide Senior Sleep Writer Frances Daniels shares five reasons why you should just go ahead and click that "buy now" button on the bed of your dreams in the Presidents' Day sales.

Saatva at the Winter Olympics

Members of Team USA competing in the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina are indulging in Saatva's "Smarter Luxury Sleep" — a far cry from the cardboard beds that defined the Paris Summer Olympic Games in 2024.

Here's what they're sleeping on:

Airweave is the mattress purveyor for the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina, but Saatva is the official bedding sponsor for Team USA and LA28.

Tempur-Pedic's bed-in-a-box is 30% off once again for a limited time

Tempur-Pedic's entry-level Tempur-Cloud Memory Foam Mattress is 30% off for Presidents' Day, which drops the price of a queen to $1,399 (reg. $1,999). It comes with a 90-night trial, a 10-year warranty, and free delivery to your doorstep.

This is the best deal we've seen for Tempur's bed-in-a-box since Black Friday, when this discount was paired with a couple of Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud pillows.

Go for this deal if...

✅ You like to sink into your mattress

✅ You share a bed (excellent motion isolation)

✅ You want one of the best values out there for a Tempur-Pedic

Pass on this deal if...

You're already prone to sleeping warm

❌ You need a bed with strong edges

❌ You can afford to upgrade to the Tempur-Adapt

Learn more in our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud mattress review.

If your mattress just needs a small comfort boost, put a topper on it!

Did you know: You don't have to immediately get rid of a mattress that's a poor fit for your sleep style. For an instant upgrade that won't cost you a whole lot, add a bed topper.

Now, I should mention that this advice only really works if your current mattress is still in sleep-worthy shape. If it's sagging, smelly, or just plain worn, you'll want to consider buying a new mattress outright.

Need some ideas? Here are three mattress topper deals to check out for Presidents' Day...

"'If my house was burning down and I could only grab one thing, this mattress would be it."

That is an excerpt from a user review for the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress, which is an extra 10% off for Presidents' Day after code TG10. After all discounts, a queen-size is on sale for $932.40 (reg. $1,295).

While that's an obvious hyperbole (I think?), people who've slept on this memory foam cooling mattress do think highly of it. After all, it has a 4.6/5 star rating at Tuft & Needle from over 15,000 reviews — with 10,000+ of them being 5-star.

I tried the Tuft & Needle Mint Hybrid Mattress, which aced our temperature regulation tests and offered excellent pressure relief for side sleeping. However, if you share a bed, I'd recommend going with the all-foam version for better motion isolation. (It also costs less than the hybrid version.)

Taking a short break, but before I do...

...just a reminder that Pluto Pillow is cutting $40 off all pillow and pillowcase bundles. Pluto only runs sales during Black Friday, so to see another sale so soon is noteworthy. I reviewed the Pluto Pillow in 2024 and am now on my second one. It's great to sleep on a pillow made just for me.

See you soon!

I've returned, with a recap of today's top Presidents' Day mattress sales

Deals on hotel mattresses? We've got those, too!

Wish you could sleep in your favorite hotel bed every night? With these mattress deals, you can make that happen right in your own home. Here are three you can find on sale right now (note that delivery is not included in these prices):

With Presidents' Day winding down, how long will these sales last?

We're nearing the end of the day, which means once the clock strikes midnight, all of these mattress deals will just disappear. Right?

Not quite.

As I've observed for most holidays, many brands are keen to extend their sales to the middle or the end of the week. On the other hand, premium brands like Tempur-Pedic and Stearns & Foster are known to end their sales once a holiday has officially ended.

The majority of these brands will still be running sales, but the discounts won't be as deep. For example, Helix may extend its 27% off coupon for a few more days before going back to its standard 20% off sale.

And then there are the likes of Nectar and DreamCloud, which reset their countdown timers every night. Their sales are evergreen and rarely deviate from the norm.

The next tentpole holiday is Memorial Day, which is 14 weeks away. That doesn't mean there won't be other mattress and sleep deals worth taking advantage of in the meantime.

Last year, I saw several brands run promotions for National Sleep Awareness Week in early March, and the discounts were on par with what you'd expect during a major shopping holiday.

So no worries if you're passing on this year's Presidents' Day sales — another set of strong offers could be making their way very soon.

Want a king-size Casper mattress for under $500?

I was browsing through Casper's clearance section searching for the discontinued Wave Hybrid Snow, one of my favorite mattresses — but to no avail.

However, I did spot a deal for a king-size Casper Essential Foam Mattress for under $500. If you need a new bed ASAP or want to refresh a guest bedroom on a budget, this is an incredible deal.

Signing off!

Thanks for spending the day with me as I shared my favorite mattress deals and buying tips this Presidents' Day. Remember to check our general mattress sales hub to find great savings year-round. Have a good one!
