President Joe Biden has emerged victorious in Missouri's primary, as confirmed by the state Democratic Party. This outcome was widely expected, given that Biden had already secured victories over his main rivals. Despite the lack of suspense surrounding the result, the primary elections remain a focal point for political observers, who closely monitor voter turnout and any indications of protest voting.
The primary held on Saturday marked the Missouri Democratic Party's first party-administered presidential contest since the implementation of a new law in August 2022. Approximately 20,000 voters took part in the process, reflecting a modest level of engagement.
In contrast, Missouri Republicans chose to conduct a caucus for their primary selection this year, with former President Donald Trump emerging as the winner. Notably, efforts to reinstate the state-run primary have faltered, despite appeals from leaders of both the state's Republican and Democratic parties.
