Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has been nominated by President-elect Trump to serve as the new Attorney General, following former Congressman Matt Gaetz's withdrawal from consideration for the position. Trump expressed his confidence in Bondi's ability to refocus the Department of Justice on fighting crime and prioritizing the safety of Americans.
Bondi, 59, is a Tampa native who holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Florida and a law degree from Stetson Law School. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991 and worked as a prosecutor for over 18 years, handling cases ranging from domestic violence to murder.
