President-elect Donald Trump announced on social media that his inauguration address will take place in the Capitol rotunda due to the cold weather conditions. He expressed concern for the safety of attendees, including law enforcement, first responders, and supporters, citing the Arctic blast sweeping the country. Trump emphasized the potential risks of prolonged exposure to the extreme weather and urged those planning to attend to dress warmly.
Referencing former President Ronald Reagan's decision to hold his 1985 inauguration indoors because of below-freezing temperatures, Trump highlighted the importance of prioritizing the well-being of participants. In response to the challenging weather conditions, Trump revealed plans to relocate the presidential parade to the Capital One Arena to provide a more controlled and comfortable environment for the event.
