The White House has offered an explanation regarding a photo that has been circulating showing President Joe Biden wearing a Trump hat at the firehouse in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The incident took place earlier on Wednesday when Biden briefly donned the Trump hat as a gesture of bipartisan unity.
According to a White House spokesperson, the president was discussing the unity of the country in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks and emphasized the need to return to that sense of unity. During the conversation, Biden handed a hat to a man who was wearing a Trump cap as a symbol of goodwill. In return, the man offered Biden his hat, which the president briefly wore, as captured in the pictures where Biden can be seen smiling widely while wearing the hat.
