President Joe Biden has delivered an address to the nation from the Oval Office only three times since becoming president. This Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, he will do so again following his recent announcement that he will not seek reelection. During this address, Biden endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him.
Oval Office addresses are considered rare occurrences, especially in recent history. Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Biden have utilized this medium only a handful of times during their respective presidencies.
