President Joe Biden recently spoke with New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy following a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that struck near Lebanon, New Jersey. The White House confirmed that the President assured Gov. Murphy of providing assistance if needed, emphasizing that the Administration is in contact with state and local officials.

Earlier on Friday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shared on social media that President Biden had been briefed on the earthquake and was closely monitoring any potential impacts. The epicenter of the earthquake was located just northeast of Lebanon, New Jersey, less than 50 miles west of New York City, as reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS).
