President Joe Biden delivered remarks at the NAACP National Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, expressing relief that former President Donald Trump emerged safely from an assassination attempt over the weekend. Biden emphasized the importance of unity and dialogue in the face of escalating political tensions.

Biden extended well-wishes to Trump and his family, urging for a national conversation to address the growing political violence in the country. He drew parallels between political violence and violence against Black Americans, highlighting the historical significance of the NAACP's role during the Civil Rights era.

The President condemned all forms of violence, referencing recent incidents such as the assassination attempt on Trump, the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota, and the threats faced by Black veterans like police officer Eugene Goodman. He called for a united stand against violence and intimidation perpetuated by White supremacy.

Despite his conciliatory tone towards Trump, Biden did not shy away from criticizing his predecessor's policies. He outlined the detrimental impact of Trump's presidency on Black America, citing efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, tax cuts benefiting the wealthy, and a flawed pandemic response.

Biden also seized the opportunity to refute Trump's claims about immigrants taking 'Black jobs,' highlighting the diverse representation in his administration and cabinet as a testament to inclusivity and equality.

The President's address underscored the need for a more civil and truthful political discourse while advocating for justice and equity for all Americans.
