President Joe Biden awarded the Medal of Honor on Wednesday to two Civil War Army soldiers, Philip Shadrach and George Wilson, for their brave actions during the Civil War. The ceremony took place in the East Room of the White House, where descendants of the soldiers were in attendance.

Shadrach and Wilson were recognized for infiltrating a Confederate train on behalf of the Union, a mission that ultimately led to their execution by the Confederacy. President Biden highlighted the importance of understanding history, especially as the nation celebrated the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

During his speech, President Biden emphasized the significance of preserving history and not erasing it. He spoke for approximately 10 minutes, reading his remarks from a teleprompter.

Notably, Hunter Biden, the president's son, was present at the ceremony. This comes in the midst of legal issues as Hunter Biden was recently found guilty on three felony gun charges. Reports also suggest that he has been attending White House meetings.

Amidst the Medal of Honor ceremony, there are speculations about President Biden's political future. Reports indicate that the president has privately acknowledged the critical nature of the upcoming days for his reelection bid. However, the White House has denied these reports, stating that President Biden is not considering stepping down despite concerns raised after his recent debate performance.
