President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made a joint public appearance in Prince George’s County, Maryland, marking their first event together since Biden withdrew from the 2024 race and endorsed Harris. During the event, Harris praised Biden, emphasizing his dedication to various issues, particularly expanding access to affordable healthcare.
The audience showed their support with chants of 'Thank you, Joe' as Harris introduced Biden. The Vice President highlighted the Inflation Reduction Act, passed two years ago, which paved the way for the announcement on drug prices made during the event.
Biden, in his speech, recounted the journey that led to the announcement, referencing his early efforts as a senator in 1973. However, towards the end of his remarks, some attendees began leaving, underscoring a contrast in enthusiasm between Biden and Harris.
Biden criticized Republicans, both in Congress and the 2024 presidential race, for opposing his domestic agenda. He specifically targeted the Project 2025 plan, associated with conservative ideals, which aimed to repeal Medicare's power to negotiate drug prices. In response, Biden emphasized his administration's Project 2025 goal of challenging such opposition.
