The Department of Health and Social Care has announced an NHS prescription price freeze in England.
This means the NHS prescription charge will remain at £9.35 per item. The freeze also applies to the cost of an NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) which will stay at:
£30.25 for 3 months
£108.10 for 12 months (patients can spread the cost and pay in 10 monthly instalments).
Patients who pay for their NHS prescriptions could save with a PPC. Patients will save if they need more than 3 items in 3 months, or 11 items in 12 months. The certificate covers all NHS prescriptions for the one-off set price. How much they can save depends on the number of prescriptions they need each month.
