Preparations have begun in Edinburgh ahead of the Queen's body arriving in the capital on Sunday before a special procession on Monday in what will be a historic and reflective day.
As the passing of Queen Elizabeth II came while she was present at her Scottish estate at Balmoral Castle, events mean her body will arrive in Edinburgh on Sunday to be taken from the Palace of Holyrood House and up the Royal Mile to St Giles' Cathedral for 24 hours.
Naturally, hundreds of locals gathered outside the gates at Holyrood Palace to reflect on a live well lived and lay flowers as a tribute to the 96-year-old who touched for hearts of a nation during her reign spanning seven decades.

While tributes poured in and the gates outside Holyrood transformed into a memorial with flowers, notes and candles, Edinburgh council began preparing for the arrival of Her Majesty's body ahead of the special ceremony on Monday.
Locals captured pictures of the Royal Mile a line with metal barriers all the way from Canongate to St Giles' on Saturday, with a number of road closures and diversions in place for the coming days.
A huge police presence was also spotted in the area with armed officers and dogs drafted in to ensure public safety during the huge event that will have the whole nation watching.
With thousands of residents expected to line the streets on Monday to pay their final respects and reflect on all the Queen done for the country and Edinburgh, scaffolding-like structures are also being erected at Holyrood and along the Royal Mile to compensate for the heard of people that are expected to turn out.
On Tuesday, September 13, plans expect Her Majesty to then be taken back down to London. Original plans had suggested this would be by use of the royal train, however reports have been made that this may also occur by plane. With the coffin then to be taken to Buckingham Palace, the Queen will lie in state for a further period before her official state funeral.
