Premier League rivals Fulham are 'confident' of securing an £8million deal to sign Arsenal star Bernd Leno before the start of the new season.
Leno was demoted to being Arsenal's No.2 goalkeeper following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United last summer. The 30-year-old made just eight appearances for the Gunners last term and wants to leave in search of regular first team football ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup this winter.
Following the arrival of American shot-stopper Matt Turner, Leno has since dropped further down the pecking order at Arsenal with a transfer looking like the best solution for all parties. Newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham are growing in confidence and want to secure a deal for the Germany international before the start of the new campaign.

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Fulham have four offers on the table for central defenders and are confident of completing a deal for Leno before their season opener against Liverpool next Saturday. Marco Silva's side are clearly looking to strengthen their defence as they look to have a strong Premier League campaign after winning the Championship last season.
Arsenal lowered their asking price for Leno from an initial £11million valuation in an attempt to speed up an exit for the 30-year-old, with the club having switched their focus in the transfer market to look at moving on a number of players before the new season starts. Nuno Tavares' move to Marseille was confirmed by the club, with the 22-year-old joining the Ligue 1 club on a season-long loan deal.
Lucas Torreira is another player being heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium and football.london understands Arteta is keen to add a new midfielder to his squad, despite a deal for Leicester star Youri Tielemans having stalled in recent weeks.
The Gunners have a bloated squad after completing five new signings so far this summer and will need to move on Leno, amongst others, before they can bring in more signings before the deadline.
