The Premier League are reportedly set to increase the amount of games broadcast live per season which could have a knock on effect on Newcastle United supporters. The Daily Mail claims there are plans to increase the amount of live games from 200 to 270 per season by the start of the 2024-25 campaign.
The proposals would see all Sunday matches available to watch, but there could be a huge knock on effect for travelling supporters with kick-off times varying from 12pm until 7pm. The move would have a major financial benefit to sides playing in the Europa League with their weekend fixtures televised on the week following a European game.
Clubs in the Europa League could net around £1 million-per-match according to the report, based on the current Premier League payments. The Premier League is also set to increase the number of Friday and Monday night games in order to attract offers from broadcasting companies.
The report claims the number of TV packages is expected to be cut from October when the tender document is issued, with each package containing more matches than the mini-package currently held by Amazon Prime who have 20 games - which will disappear entirely.

However, the top flight's governing body is hopeful of securing a significant increase in revenue for the 2024 to 2027 package. Newcastle supporters have already fallen victim to kick-off times being changed at short notice and train strikes caused havoc with the 2022-23 scheduling.
On the other hand, if the Toon are to qualify for the Europa League next season, the club's finances would welcome the change as they look to stay in line with Financial Fair Play [parameters.
