Roma striker Tammy Abraham has been told that Arsenal could be a 'fantastic' destination for him over Chelsea if he was to return to the Premier League in the near future.
Abraham has found some excellent form in the Italian capital having hit 23 goals in 41 outings in all competitions - the best goalscoring top-flight season of his career thus far. The 24-year-old’s displays are slightly more difficult for Chelsea to stomach considering Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner’s inconsistent displays at Stamford Bridge so far this term. Despite that, Abraham could potentially be back in west London at some point in the future, with Chelsea having slotted a buy-back clause into the deal that originally took him to the Stadio Olimpico. The clause reportedly becomes active in the summer of 2023 for a fee of €80m (£67m).
Premier League rivals Arsenal will be hoping that the Blues do not choose to follow-through with that clause having been linked with a move for the striker. Abraham himself has now had a say on a potential return to the Premier League and suggested that he could be back - albeit he is currently focused on his task in hand with Roma. Speaking with talkSPORT, he said: “It’s all over the place at the moment. Who knows what the future holds.

“But, for me right now, it’s about focusing in Rome. It’s about focusing on doing the best I can and hopefully I can win these guys a trophy, which they haven’t won in many years.” Abraham still over four years left to run on his current Roma contract and whilst he has sparkled for Jose Mourinho’s men, the former Chelsea boss has still urged the striker to improve.
Speaking last month, the Portuguese said: “When you say Abraham is fantastic, I disagree, he can do even more. I demand a lot of him because I know his potential, I'm not talking about goals but he must play every game with this attitude.” With both London giants on the look out for new long-term striking options with Arsenal's need more following the mid-season departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette's uncertain future, Premier League icon John Barnes believes they are currently the best option if the ex-Cobham graduate was to make a swift return to England.
"If Abraham wants to come back to England and it’s not going to work at Chelsea, Arsenal would be a fantastic club for him," he told BonusCodeBets.co.uk. "They need a centre forward - Lacazette looks like he’s going, Aubameyang’s not there and Nketiah may not be the answer. If Abraham wants to come back to London, it would be a good move for him and a good move for Arsenal."
For the Blues, Lukaku would most likely have to be sold if there was even a remote possibility of seeing a homecoming for a player who was given the vote of confidence under Frank Lampard. Barnes stated: "It all depends on how Chelsea want to play next season. Roma obviously suits Abraham better, that’s why he’s scored so many goals. You have to find the football that suits you. The fact that he’s scored goals doesn’t mean he’s going to come back and score goals for Chelsea. Tuchel won’t want to play both Abraham and Lukaku."
