New measures will be introduced by the Premier League in order to combat rising anti-social behaviour cases at top-flight matches, including tragedy chanting from supporters.
A working group to deal with the problem, as well as offensive gesturing, online abuse and other similar concerns, was launched in December and full details on the proposed action, which clubs unanimously agreed to at the Premier League AGM on Wednesday, will be announced before the 2023/2024 season.
As per the governing body, there will be focus on criminal prosecution, the regulatory environment, online abuse, education and communication. It follows a marked rise in offensive chanting and other such behaviour last season.
Liverpool and their fanbase were subjected to a growing number of distasteful references from other team's supporters relating to the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters during the past season.

A statement published on the Premier League website read: "Premier League clubs unanimously agreed during their AGM to a series of new measures to address the unacceptable rise in anti-social behaviour involving football tragedy-related chanting, gesturing, graffiti, online abuse and other behaviours last season.
"The measures are the output of a cross-football working group which was set up in December to explore available options to challenge the normalisation of such distasteful behaviours and incidents. The issues have continued to cause significant distress to the victims' families, survivors and affected club supporters, in addition to damaging the reputation of the clubs involved and football in England and Wales."
It continued: "The action will focus on criminal prosecution, the regulatory environment, enforcement, online abuse, education and communications. Following further footballing partner sign-off, full details will be publicly announced ahead of the season as part of the Love Football, Protect the Game campaign which was launched last year."
