Premier League clubs chase Yannick Carrasco while Man United ready to return for de Jong

Here are the latest Premier League headlines for Thursday, June 23.

Yannick Carrasco in demand

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are exploring the prospect of signing Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco this summer after his release clause emerged, according to reports in Spain.

The Belgium wide-man, 28, has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past and English clubs are considering making a move once more.

Whilst it is understood that Carrasco is comfortable at the Wanda Metropolitano under the tutelage of Diego Simeone, various aspects of his contract make an exit possible. It is suggested that he is keen to pen a new deal that would put him closer to the club’s top earners, including Jan Oblak, Antoine Greizmann and Koke.

Man United ready to return for de Jong

Manchester United are expected to make a second bid for Frenkie de Jong, despite the Barcelona midfielder reportedly having 'serious doubts' over the transfer.

De Jong, 25, is one of United's main transfer targets this summer. The Red Devils have already had a bid of €60million (£51.6m) rejected by Barcelona, who paid £65m for the Netherlands international when he arrived from Dutch side Ajax three years ago.

New United boss Erik ten Hag worked with De Jong at Ajax - winning a league and cup double together in 2018-19 - and is keen to sign at least one new midfielder in the summer transfer window after the club allowed Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic to depart.

Wolves youngster joins Boro

Middlesbrough have announced the signing of Ryan Giles on a season-long loan from Wolves. The 22-year-old left-sided player has nearly 100 English Football League appearances under his belt already and has had loan spells at Shrewsbury, Coventry, Rotherham, Cardiff and Blackburn.

Boro manager Chris Wilder told the club website: "We're delighted to bring Ryan in. There was a lot of interest in him and it's great we've been able to bring him here.

"He's a player we know a lot about, he's young and he's an exciting talent. He has plenty of experience already at this level and knows the league. I think we're a good fit for Ryan and we're really looking forward to working with him."
