Swansea City are facing a fresh threat over losing star man Joel Piroe with the new Championship kick-off just days away, according to new reports.
Our sister paper the Express say Piroe, who scored 22 goals for the Swans in his first season, is being monitored by Brighton as a potential replacement for Neal Maupay.
Negotiations have begun between the Seagulls and Italian Serie A side Salernitana who are keen to land Maupay. He only featured for 20 minutes in the pre-season friendly at Reading on Saturday.

The Express say the Italians have offered Brighton £15m for Maupay and that if they sanction his transfer 'one of the names expected to fall under consideration is Piroe.'
Brighton are managed by Graham Potter, a former Swansea boss.
Leicester City, also led by another ex-Swans chief in Brendan Rodgers, were reportedly keen to sign Piroe and heavily linked with his signature. But Rodgers has not followed up that interest and it remains to be seen whether Brighton make their move.
As things stand Piroe remains a Swansea player, with the club keen to tie him down to a new deal, and will play up front in Saturday's season opener at Rotherham.
But the speculation on his future could yet continue right through to the closure of the summer transfer window on September 1st.
