After witnessing 11 Gameweeks of high-octane soccer, we can safely predict that the 2024-25 Premier League season will be one of the most memorable in recent years.
Liverpool and Manchester City are currently the top two contenders for the title Premier League title. Chelsea, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and Brentford are all in the mix for the top four. Then, we have Manchester United in the 13th place, gearing up for a comeback under new manager Ruben Amorim. And finally, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Southampton are locked in a relegation scrap.
Considering the breakneck action we have been treated to, it is difficult to imagine two whole weeks without English top-flight matches. Unfortunately, the international break is unavoidable, so all we can do is reflect on the story so far. In today’s list, we will get the ball rolling by identifying the division’s most impactful forwards this season.
Here are the five leading goal contributors of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign:
Data: Statmuse
#5 Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford): 9 Goal contributions
In fifth place, we have Brentford center-forward Bryan Mbeumo. The 25-year-old has been in red-hot form this season, scoring eight goals and providing an assist in 11 Premier League matches. Without his timely goals, Brentford would not have been in the running for a top-four finish.
Mbeumo played his best game against Ipswich Town on October 26. He scored two goals as the Bees secured a narrow 4-3 victory over Ipswich.
#4 Bukayo Saka (Arsenal): 10 Goal contributions
Arsenal poster boy Bukayo Saka has captured the fourth spot with 10 goal involvements in as many Premier League matches. The England international has scored three goals and has provided seven assists, emerging as the leading contender for the Playmaker of the Season award. Had it not been for Saka, Arsenal would not have been able to hold the fourth position in the Premier League rankings.
Saka’s finest display came against Southampton in the first week of October. He scored once and provided two assists to help Arsenal to a 3-1 win over the Saints.
#3 Erling Haaland (Manchester City): 12 Goal contributions
Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland is in third place with 12 goal contributions in 11 Premier League outings. Unlike the other four players on this list, Haaland has yet to provide an assist. With 12 goals to his name, Haaland is the comfortable frontrunner for the 2024-25 Premier League Golden Boot award.
Haaland has scored two consecutive hat-tricks in the Premier League this season. The first one came in a 4-1 routing of Ipswich Town on August 24, while the second one arrived a week later as Man City beat West Ham United 3-1. His goals have helped Man City stay in second place and chase their dream of winning a record-extending fifth consecutive Premier League title.
#2 Cole Palmer (Chelsea): 12 Goal contributions
Chelsea star Cole Palmer, who emerged as the best young player in the Premier League last season, has been firing on all cylinders this term as well. So far, he has played 11 matches, scoring seven goals and providing five assists. Largely thanks to Palmer, Chelsea is in third place in the league rankings.
Palmer delivered his best performance against Brighton & Hove Albion on September 28. The England international scored all four of Chelsea’s goals as they cruised to a 4-2 victory.
#1 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): 14 Goal contributions
At the summit sits Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah with an impressive haul of eight goals and six assists in 11 matches. His heroics have helped the Reds climb to the top of the Premier League rankings with 28 points. The Merseysiders sit five points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
Salah’s finest display came against Manchester United on September 1. He scored once and provided two assists to propel Liverpool to a 3-0 win.
