Although working in the hotel industry may look pretty glamorous on the surface, there are of course plenty of frustrating complaints professionals in this sector must deal with on a regular basis. One Premier Inn employee has now opened up about the most awkward complaint he has to contend with, and it may well encourage guests to think twice about what they get up to behind closed doors.
In an eye-opening video shared to TikTok, Premier Inn employee Wayne Miles detailed one particularly mortifying and lesser-known part of the job, which he describes as being 'one of the most awkward situations to ever be in', leaving his amused followers in stitches.
In the video, Wayne, who goes by the TikTok username @waynemiles99, could be seen hopping down a corridor at one of the hotel chain's branches, wearing his distinctive purple uniform.
Remarking, 'If you know, you know,' Wayne wrote: "Gets a noise complaint. Me on the way to tell the guest to turn their TV down. Guest opens door. Me realising the TV isn't on."
Noting that this sort of thing does help keep his job 'interesting', Wayne continued "Oh my days, if you work in the hotel industry, you would know this is one of the most awkward situations to ever be in - like seriously."
A number of others in similar roles could relate all too well, with one person commenting: "Yesss, it’s even more awkward when they don’t listen and you have to go back a second time."
Another laughed: "I've been a hotel worker for seven and a half years and it doesn't stop being awkward."
A third chuckled: "Haha I work at Premier Inn housekeeping. It's more awkward when you need to make their room but don’t know to knock or leave it till last."
Others were left amazed by the admission, with one horrified woman gasping, "I thought the walls were soundproof!"
Gently correcting the woman, who jokingly vowed never to stay at a Premier Inn again, Wayne clarified: "Oh dear. Making noise to your heart's content. I can confirm the walls are NOT soundproof."
