A Premiership footballer has been forced to hang up his boots after medics discovered he had a potentially fatal heart problem. Midfielder Enock Mwepu signed for Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021 and has made 24 appearances scoring two goals.
The Zambia international took ill during a recent international break. Tests later discovered he had a hereditary heart problem.
In a statement on the club website they paid tribute to the 24-year-old. They said: "Enock Mwepu has been forced to end his playing career following the diagnosis of a hereditary heart condition.
