Pregnant Women in Lincoln County Maine Could Face Longer Drives if the Damariscotta Birthing Unit Closes

Lincoln County has one hospital labor and delivery unit, at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital's Miles Campus in Damariscotta, and MaineHealth boards are voting this summer on whether it stays open.

Nothing is settled. According to The Lincoln County News, MaineHealth boards at the local, regional and state level were scheduled to vote in sequence on July 23, July 30 and August 6. MaineHealth has said board deliberations are confidential and will not be released, and officials declined to confirm the outcome of the first vote.
