THANE: The Raigad and Thane health departments have independently set up a probe seeking explanations in the incident where a pregnant woman from Neral was refused treatment at their respective "ill-equipped" facilities forcing her to travel to Thane.
The woman who had to endure excruciating pain for 12 hours, finally delivered a stillborn baby in an ambulance late on March 20 while on the way to the municipal run Kalwa hospital, nearly 70 kms away from her home. The Kalwa municipal hospital that attended to the woman registered the incident on March 21.
