Pregnant woman defends her 22-week baby bump from critics who say it's just 'chub'

Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and the same can be said for pregnancy bumps, as everyone will carry their baby differently and the changes will start to show at different times.

But it seems some people haven't got that memo, as one mum on TikTok has been criticised by nasty trolls for the size and shape of her bump at 22 weeks pregnant.

Maisie Crompton - who recently went viral for sharing her list of rules for when her baby arrives - posted a video in which she addressed one of the negative comments she had received from a social media user who claimed people "hardly show" at her stage of pregnancy.

The commenter went on to call Maisie's bump "chub" and said there was no way that her belly was showing signs of pregnancy just yet.

They said: "I hate to say it but that isn't your bump. At 20 weeks you hardly show, you can't just rub your chub and say that's your baby."

Maisie refused to be put off by the nasty comments and defended her baby bump, sharing a sassy TikTok video in response.

Posting under the username @maisie_crompton - the mum-to-be filmed herself with one hand on her baby bump as she lip-synced along to a song with the lyrics: "One thing I like about me is that I'm nothing like you and I never will be."

She then also captioned the video: "That's all I have to say to you."

Thankfully, the troll's rude opinion isn't one that's supported by most people in Maisie's comments, as many TikTok users who responded to the clip were quick to back the mum-to-be and pointed out how diverse pregnancies can be.

One person said: "There’s a baby in your belly, so that makes it a baby bump. Celebrate Mama."

While another added: "I looked full-term by 20 weeks and always got asked if it was multiples. Every pregnancy is different."

And a third said: "People don’t understand that it’s usually about placenta placements, bumps come in all shapes and sizes!"

"By 20 weeks, your baby is the size of a banana," someone else stated, "plus the placenta, amniotic fluid … where do they think we're hiding it if that’s not our bump?"

Several other commenters told Maisie that "trolls never win" and encouraged her to keep doing what makes her happy and not listen to what anyone else has to say.

A social media user said: "You absolutely can, and it is your baby! Enjoy, darling."

As another stated: "Do people go that far with their comments? I really don’t get them. Gosh, get a life. Congratulations beautiful mama."
