The mother of a brave bride who was killed by her husband after being pushed off Arthur's Seat says her daughter was just 'days away' from leaving him.
Pregnant lawyer Fawziyah Javed, 31, was pushed 50ft to her death in Edinburgh in September 2021, a crime her husband Kashif Anwar denied. The 29-year-old was found guilty at the city's High Court last week and given a minimum jail sentence of 20 years.
Fawziyah, who was 17 weeks pregnant, identified her husband as her attacker during her final breaths as she suffered blunt force injuries from the fall. Chilling CCTV footage released since the incident show the pair's movements as Anwar led his employment lawyer wife to the landmark during what he described as a "mini-moon" just nine months on from their wedding.
