Most people know the most reliable sign of pregnancy is a missed period, but there are a wide range of symptoms that can occur very early on.
While every pregnancy is different, there are some less obvious signs that mothers-to-be experience. However, as many of these are similar to those you may get while pre-menstrual or during your period, it can be tough to work out what your body is actually telling you.
The best way to find out is to take a pregnancy test. The NHS says a positive pregnancy test result is almost certainly correct, as long as you have followed the instructions correctly.

A negative result is less reliable. If you get a negative result and still think you may be pregnant, the NHS says, wait a week and try again.
Common pregnancy symptoms include a missed period, sore or tender breasts, and feeling or being sick. But there are some signs that occur in your nose and mouth.
To begin with, a pregnant woman may have no symptoms. But from as early as four weeks after your last period, you may experience signs such as a metallic taste in your mouth, and a heightened sense of smell.
At this stage, pregnant women may also experience nausea, new food likes and dislikes and bloating. Other symptoms can include tiredness and light spotting.
