Prediction for Rangers vs Liverpool: Reds look vulnerable on first Ibrox visit

Check out our 2/1 prediction for Rangers vs Liverpool below

Anticipation is high for Liverpool's first ever visit to Ibrox for a competitive fixture but the reality is that nothing less than a win will do for Rangers. The Gers sit bottom of UEFA Champions League Group A without a point or even a goal. Admittedly, it's a tough section, but the lack of a single goal is a poor reflection on a Rangers side who, for the large part, haven't really done themselves justice in this competition.

That being said, they will surely sense an opportunity here. The hosts might be 15/2 outsiders with Betfred to win this game but this is no bad time to be playing a Liverpool team that look devoid of confidence and energy.

Jurgen Klopp's side looked out on their feet at the end of of their 3-2 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and they've been dealt further blows with injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Joel Matip. Belief in the Reds camp looks low and they have a defence that can clearly be got at if Rangers play their cards correctly.

Rangers looked completely overwhelmed in last week's reverse fixture but Anfield has always been one of the toughest away grounds under the lights in this competition and we might just get a different kind of game at a raucous Ibrox.

It will need to be a different game though because Rangers really need to find a way of getting onto the front foot. Only Copenhagen have generated fewer attampts on goal in this season's Champions League and a sum total of six shots on target from three Champions League matches is farely tragic, in truth.

Just as worrying a stat is the fact that Rangers' 23 fouls in those three games is third lowest in the competition (only Barcelona and Real Madrid have conceded fewer) which primarily tells us that Rangers are paying their opponents too much respect.

That simply has to change if they are to break up the rhythm of the so-called bigger sides and the Rangers fans will demand that their side make life as difficult as possible for this Liverpool side.

Prediction for Rangers vs Liverpool

With Liverpool low on confidence and looking a side lacking in energy, and Rangers struggling to create big chances, this might not be the spectacle we are all hoping for.

However, only Napoli have prevented Rangers from scoring at home this season and their first Champions League goal might well be enough to earn the Gers at least a point in this fixture.

With that in mind, the 2/1 about Rangers/Draw in the Double Chance section looks an appealing bet. The odds suggest Liverpool are certainties here but they head north looking vulnerable and Rangers are a juicy price.

Prediction for Rangers vs Liverpool: Rangers/Draw (Double Chance) - 2/1
