Prediction and betting odds for MSU Basketball vs. Minnesota on Wednesday

The Spartans head up north for their Big Ten opener.

Michigan State basketball will face Minnesota on Wednesday night in their first game of league play this year. The Spartans will play a pair of conference games this week, with the second coming on Saturday at home against Nebraska.

Michigan State is 6-2 overall following a strong showing in the Maui Invitational. The Spartans finished in third place in the event after knocking off North Carolina in their final game last Wednesday.

Minnesota is 6-3 overall after a shakey start to the year. The Golden Gophers have yet to pick up a marquee win, and have dropped one game against a mid-major foe (North Texas) and narrowly gotten by a number of other mid-major opponents.

Michigan State vs. Minnesota prediction, pick

There’s no such thing as an easy road game in Big Ten play — but this may be the “easiest” on the Spartans’ slate this year. Minnesota isn’t the same NCAA Tournament bubble team as last year, and if Michigan State is truly going to contend for a Big Ten title then they better win this one. I think they do through a strong defensive effort.

Prediction: Michigan State 75, Minnesota 67
