Newcastle United will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season after snatching a late point at Molineux on Sunday afternoon, but face a stern test against a resurgent Liverpool side.
The Magpies had Allan Saint-Maximin to thank after volleying home a stunning effort in the 90th minute, whilst Jurgen Klopp's side picked up their first win of the campaign, putting nine past Scott Parker's Bournemouth which proved to be his last game in charge of the Cherries.
Playing the Reds may have come at the worst time for Eddie Howe's side, with Callum Wilson, Bruno Guimaraes and Saint-Maximin all expected to miss the trip to Merseyside on Wednesday night.

But Liverpool have their own injury problems, with nine first-team players currently missing from the first-team squad, with only four fit midfielders available to chose from for their match against the Magpies.
Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita are all side-lined with their respective injury problems, whilst Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Calvin Ramsey and Caoimhin Kelleher also remain unavailable to the Liverpool squad. Darwin Nunez will serve the final game of his three-match suspension following his straight red card against Crystal Palace.
That being said, Klopp still has the personnel to put out an extremely strong squad against Newcastle, with their strength in depth questioned following their third-placed finish in the 2020/21 season.
Following on from their emphatic win over Bournemouth, Liverpool came through the game with no additional concerns, and will likely be unchanged for the visit of Howe's side.
Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino were in red hot form at the weekend, both bagging two goals whilst the Brazilian also registered three assists, flourishing in the number nine position with Nunez suspended.
Youngster Harvey Elliot has also relished in the attacking midfield position, taking the opportunity to stake a claim in the Liverpool midfield with so many absences.
This is how The Chronicle predict Liverpool will line-up tomorrow evening:
Liverpool line-up - Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Elliott; Salah, Firmino, Diaz.
