Only Leicester City have not yet passed the 30-game mark in the Premier League, meaning the season has reached the stage when form has never been as important as it currently is. Newcastle United have enjoyed a resurgence under the guidance of Eddie Howe, although did recently fall to three consecutive league defeats.
Fortunately for the St James' Park faithful, they bounced back with a 1-0 win over Wolves and have a healthy 10-point lead over 18th-placed Burnley. Relegation remains a mathematical possibility but the Magpies are well-placed to avoid a return to the Championship.
There is still all to play for at the bottom as not a single club has already had their fate sealed. Norwich City, Watford and Burnley currently occupy the bottom three but Everton and Leeds United are not safe yet and are hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th and 16th respectively.

At the opposite end a tense title race is playing out between Manchester City and Liverpool. Pep Guardiola's side are the current pace-setters although Jurgen Klopp's men are just a point behind. There are also places in Europe up for grabs and there is potential for a dramatic end to the campaign.
Newcastle welcome Leicester City to Tyneside on Sunday before hosting Crystal Palace next Wednesday. A trip to rock-bottom Norwich City will follow before Newcastle go head-to-head with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal. The season ends at Turf Moor, where Newcastle will face Burnley on 22 May.
