Predator who raped two women while they slept jailed for six years

A man who raped two sleeping woman was jailed today for six years.

Graham Ross preyed on the pair at separate properties in Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire.

The 38-year-old raped the first woman on various occasions between December 2013 and February 2017.

He then attacked the second woman on April 22, 2017.

Ross, of Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, lowered each of victims' lower clothing before committing the crime.

Both of the women were drunk and incapable of giving or withholding consent at the time.

The dad-of-three was found guilty after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow to raping both women.

Judge Tom Hughes put Ross under supervision for two years upon his release from prison.

The judge said: "These are very serious matters which had a considerable effect on both victims in this case.

"I read a victim impact statement which states that these offences have left both with catastrophic consequences which will be life long.

"The circumstances are quite clear in this case and custody is inevitable because of the gravity of the crimes committed - it is the only appropriate disposal."

Ross was put on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.

Frances Connor, defending, earlier told the sentencing: "Although his background report makes it clear that he doesn't accept the verdict, he does identify that being a victim of rape would be a traumatic experience for the victims."
