‘Pre-season Pirlo’ - Manchester United fans react to Andreas Pereira's stunning strike

Manchester United supporters are not getting too excited by Andreas Pereira’s superb daisy-cutter for loan club Flamengo.

The midfielder netted his first goal of the Brazilian Serie A season - which began in April - in a 2-1 win over Fluminense on Sunday. The United outcast has faced an uncertain future.

His parent club agreed an £8.5m fee with Flamengo in February before the South American club’s hierarchy put a stop to the deal going through. The ball got rolling again until Pereira was told he could be a part of Erik ten Hag’s plans.

The 26-year-old has not played for United for almost two years. Flamengo are still keen on a deal, which needs to take place before the end of July.

And it seems most United fans want him off their club’s wage books. Several reacted to Pereira’s strike by inferring that the player only seems to produce his best football in pre-season.

Some of them aired their thoughts on Twitter, some expressing worry that Ten Hag might be not getting the true profile of the player.
