Prax Group buys tanker to bolster Lindsey Oil Refinery trade

A new tanker has been added to the Prax Group fleet as it expands delivery infrastructure following the buy-out of Lindsey Oil Refinery.

The Fortuna I has been bought by Harvest Energy Marine, with the intention to primarily sail between Immingham and other group facilities in Belgium.

A 123-metre vessel can carry very low sulphur fuel oil and marine gas oil, and as well as supplying ports across northwestern Europe, also offers ship-to-ship bunkering capability.

Geert Boden, general manager of Harvest Energy Marine, said: “I am delighted to announce the purchase of Fortuna I, which forms part of our long-term strategic objective of investment, growth and development.

“This purchase demonstrates our proactive approach to the ever-changing needs of our customers in the marine fuels environment and our commitment to build a robust and reliable supply chain to meet those needs. It is the natural evolution in our progression towards making Harvest Energy Marine a leading player in the global marine market.

“We are in a great place to respond to the requirements of our customers, both new and existing, in order to continue to deliver innovative solutions to reduce refuelling times at a competitive price, whilst providing customers with their most important resource.”

He said the tanker will aid Prax Group’s established supply and storage network in the UK and continental Europe, as well as opportunities arising from its operations throughout the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region.

London-headquartered Prax swooped for Lindsey Oil Refinery as it widened its oil interests across the supply chain, completing the deal for the 500-acre site in March last year. It started as a trading operation, adding terminals, logistics then filling stations, before the refinery acquisition made it a fully integrated business.
