Prakash Padukone in her corner, PV Sindhu in QFs after six months

PV Sindhu reached her first quarterfinal in six months and showed signs of getting back to her best. The 28-year-old ousted Beiwen Zhang of USA 13-21, 21-10, 21-14 in the second round of the French Open Super-750 tournament in Paris on Thursday. However, it was curtains for Kidambi Srikanth, who lost to Lu Guang Zu of China 21-19, 12-21, 20-22.

The last time Sindhu made it to the quarterfinals was on Oct 19, 2023 at the Denmark Open. She was nursing an injury since she limped out of the second round match at the French Open last year and returned to the circuit last month to lead India to their first ever Asia Team Championship title.
