It's no secret that many in the UK are bracing themselves for some pretty hefty winter fuel bills. The increase in people searching for low energy alternatives to their oven or hob is further testament to this fear.
Slow cookers and air fryers are being hailed as a money saving tool when it comes to cooking up a warming meal during the winter and Currys currently has for sale a Crock-pot slow cooker that shoppers are loving - especially as the big name brand is being sold for under £15.
Matt Manning, Group Carbon and Environment Manager at Currys plc, said: "We know that many of our customers across the UK will be deeply concerned about the increase in energy bills forecasted for 2022. At Currys, we want to ensure everyone has access to amazing technology that will help them save money long term."

Crock-Pot's 1.8 litre cooker is ideal for students, couples or small families with shoppers saying it is "just the right size for 2 or 3 people". The easy to use product has high, low and keep-warm settings, creating a low gentle heat, which the retailer says "lets you make delicious casseroles, curries, chilli as well as pot roasts or even desserts".
Further features include a removable ceramic bowl so that food can be served straight to the table. And because the pot is made from oven-safe stoneware, you can easily finish off a meal by browning the top in the oven or grill.
Shoppers have already shared their joy after buying the cooker. One person wrote: "Takes up very limited space, so easy to clean and cooks very well. Nothing negative to say so far." Another said: "Perfect for meals for 2 and dishwasher proof," and a third added: "Heats quickly."
With an average of 9.2 stars out of a possible 10, shoppers continued with their praise. "Just the right size for 2 or 3 people," said one person. Adding: "Some people feel it could use a light to let you know when it's on, however it's just one more thing to go wrong in my opinion so happy it's the way it is. Cooks evenly and gives food so much more flavour being slowly cooked."
Another added: "Very easy to use". Someone else said: "Perfect for just a couple of people, we’re hoping cooking low and slow will help with the up coming price hikes in electricity."
Nottinghamshire Live reported previously that the cost of running a slow cooker was 16p per day compared to an electric cooker which stands at 87p per day. The figures were based on energy supplier Utilita's data, the firm had teamed up with supermarket chain Iceland to compile the research.
Matt Manning, added: "To support shoppers nationwide, our expert colleagues are on hand in-store and online via our on-demand ShopLive service to help people upgrade to the latest energy efficient technology, that’s best suited to their lifestyle."
The retailer continued that one tip to save on energy bills was to purchase the correct size product. It said: "In the past 12 months Currys has noticed an increase in the numbers of customer who’re looking to save money and protect the environment and looking for quick options to do so, such as purchasing the correct size product for their lifestyle. It’s not always about the biggest, most popular product, but rather what caters to your needs."
