Potholes which were blighting the area near the Essex home of Sir Rod Stewart have officially been repaired.
Back in March we reported how the Hoops-daft singer wore his Celtic FC trackies and high vis vest as he filled in some craters in the road at his house after growing frustrated at the damage they were causing.
He told fans the road was so bad an ambulance had burst a tyre and his Ferrari was unable to drive through.
Maggie May singer Rod took to the pothole-filled surface with a group of friends and a truck full of gravel to try and fix it themselves.
In a video shared to social media at the time, Rod could be heard shouting he was repairing the road near his house "since no one has been bothered to do it".
Essex County Council has now announced that the potholes have now been officially repaired.
"We can confirm that this micro surfacing work was already scheduled to take place prior to any enquiry received, as part of our planned programme of work for this year," an Essex Highways spokesperson told Essex Live.
"The work was completed last week. As well as the surfacing works, we also cleansed and repaired the road’s drainage, which should provide long-lasting benefits."
The council also invited Sir Rod out with one of their crews to learn more about the process of repairing potholes. The spokesperson said: "We would be happy for Sir Rod Stewart to accompany one of our road patching gangs for a day to see how we go about repairing the carriageway.”
The Do Ya Think I'm Sexy singer was surrounded by men with shovels in high vis jackets helping him fix the road as he told fans he was getting the job done himself.
Sir Rod said: "I'm repairing the street where I live as no-one can be bothered to do it. My Ferrari can't get through here at all."
"This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow and it’s been like this for ages," the singer continued in another clip,
"People are smashing their cars up. The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tyre."
Despite being a random update from the 76-year-old singer, fans praised Rod for looking after his community.
One wrote: "Well done Rod . Can you do all the other sh**** roads in Harlow too that have potholes xxxx"
"Awesome. Those holes were terrible. Thank you Rod," another praised.
Now we wait with baited breath to see if Sir Rod will take the council up on their generous offer to learn more about pothole repair procedures...
