Former Scotland full-back Alan Hutton believes Newcastle United will face a summer transfer window of problems due to the Magpies new found resources.
Following October's Saudi-backed takeover, Newcastle became one of the wealthiest clubs in world football. With the club languishing in and around the relegation zone following the takeover, Newcastle had to box smart in the January transfer window in order to stay up.
They knew they would be quoted outlandish sums due to their situation and new found wealth. Astute signings were made in Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn and Matt Targett. Chris Wood, who was hardly prolific, scored two important goals for the Magpies and Bruno Guimaraes provided some extra star power.

The January quintet helped the Magpies to an 11th placed finish, setting them up for an exciting summer. Rarely do you see that many players hit immediately for a club, especially in the Premier League. However, the summer window could see Newcastle quoted enormous figures for players, with one name of note being Manchester City defender Nathan Ake.
City have reportedly slapped a £50m tag on the Dutch international who Newcastle are interested in highlighting a real problem for the Magpies this summer. And former Scotland and Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton believes Newcastle's ability to spend big could actually cause them issues this summer.
"I think it’s a problem for them, no matter what market they shop in,” Hutton told Football Insider. "Whether it be England or abroad, all these clubs know that Newcastle could be a powerhouse moving forward.
“They’ve got rich owners and for that, there will be a premium on the players. That’s why, I think, we’re talking about this £50million mark for Nathan Ake. It’ll be another interesting one. I think Newcastle will probably have a lot of targets lined up. Obviously, with Howe and the connection he’s got Ake, he knows how to get the best out of him.
