Postecoglou insists he's at Celtic for the long haul

Ange Postecoglou says he'll be at Celtic 'as long as club want me' and discusses new contract

CELTIC manager Ange Postecoglou insists he has no plans on leaving Scotland anytime soon amid uncertainty over a new contract for the Greek-Australian.

The former Yokohama F. Marinos boss took charge of the Glasgow club last summer and guided the team to a Premier Sports Cup and Premiership double in his debut campaign.

Postecoglou was appointed on a rolling one-year deal and talks are ongoing to tie the popular Parkhead manager to the club for the long-term - but the man himself is relaxed about his future.

And the 56-year-old insists he will remain at Celtic for as long as the club will have him.

“I’ve never worried about that," Postecoglou told Australian outlet Sportsday

"Long-term contracts in coaching really mean absolute jack, as anyone will tell you. In my career, I’ve never worried about my contract length or security.

“I work as if I’ll be there forever knowing that I won’t be.

"I’m really happy at the football club. I’ve had an amazing year and amazing support.

"It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a football club. It’s a massive club, it’s geared for success and I’m a pretty driven guy in terms of success. We’ve got Champions League football next year.

“Those are the kind of things that are important to me.

"Contracts and all those other factors just don’t enter my thinking. I’m very happy where I am and as long as the club want me to stay I’ll be around."
