A California man received an unexpected piece of family history this week when a postcard sent by his late parents more than 26 years ago finally arrived at his Long Beach home.
For Bob Sheppard, the faded postcard was more than a delayed piece of mail. It was a personal message from his parents, Joanne and John, who had mailed it from Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2000. By the time the postcard reached Sheppard in August 2026, both of his parents had died.
