Gardai were last night awaiting post-mortem results after a woman was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in her home.
Investigators say the results of the examination taking place at Dublin City Mortuary yesterday would determine the direction of the probe. But sources said foul play could not be ruled out following the discovery at a house in Carpenterstown, Dublin, yesterday at around 10am.
One source said: “Gardai just don’t know yet how she died and are a bit suspicious about it. But they will know one way or another when they get the results.”

Gardai were conducting interviews of people known to the dead woman to establish when she was last seen alive.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardai are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a body of a woman in her 60s at a property in Carpenterstown, Dublin 15, at approximately 10am this morning, Tuesday 4th April 2023. Her body has been removed to Dublin City Mortuary where a post-mortem will take place, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.”
