Airport shoppers and staff were left stunned when they spotted an unusual “toy” among a plush animal display - a real possum.
A passenger at Hobart Airport in Tasmania spotted the Australian brushtail possum peering out from a display shelf at the departure terminal shop on Wednesday (18 March).
They then reported it to a member of staff who “couldn’t quite believe what she was hearing,” airport retail manager Liam Bloomfield said.
A spokesperson for the airport said the possum stayed calm as it was safely escorted out of the terminal. It is unclear how the animal got into the airport store.
